About The Author
Manju Soni, pen name MJ Soni (she/her), https://mjsoniauthor.com/ is the author of short stories and DEFYING APARTHEID, her part-memoir about being a doctor activist in apartheid South Africa. Her debut mystery, THE MASALA CHAI MYSTERY CLUB, is out in July 2026. The story follows a retired librarian and her chai-loving friends as they delve into the investigation of their despised HOA president’s murder, which echoes the plot of their latest Agatha Christie book club read. It’s perfect for fans of Only Murders in the Building and Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club.
