All of them are free to attend! You don’t need to be a member of the library to attend. All you have to do is register at the corresponding link and the meeting information will be sent to you the day before the event.

NYPL Zine Information Session – Wednesday, June 9 at 3 PM
Interested in being published in the next issue of the NYPL Zine’s “Library Zine! Voices Across the New York Public Library”? Then join our information session! We will be discussing the submission requirements, general timeline, and what to expects after you submit for this year’s theme, “Dear Future Self…”

Kids STEAM: Introduction to Canva– Thursday, June 10 at 3 PM
Want to learn how to create a comic or a poster to help your community? Join staff from the Allerton and Pelham-Parkway Van Nest libraries for an educational and exciting hands-on beginners program on Canva, the online website that lets you design so many things! Open to ages 8-12 accompanied by a caregiver.
This event will take place over Google Meet. You must register with your email address in order to receive the link to participate. The link will be sent to you by email approximately one hour before the program. You will need a device with audio and video and an internet connection to join. When registering for this program, parents/caregivers should use their information.

Virtual Comics Chat – Thursday, June 17 at 3:30 PM
Join us as three librarians talk about some of our personal favorite comics that we hope you’ll check out! This month, we will be discussing graphic novels and memoirs for LGBTQ+ Pride Month& Summer Reading.
Advanced registration required. The link to the virtual event will be sent one day in advance. Attendees must have a valid email address and a device with an Internet connection and audio and/or video capabilities. Public participation in the talk is optional.

Proud to Read: LGBTQAI+ Book Tasting– Monday, June 21 at 4 PM
Our brains have taken a beating over the last year and they might not have been doing so great pre-pandemic. So with May being Mental Health Awareness Month, librarians from Bronx Library Center, Hunts Point and Pelham Parkway-Van Nest will highlight favorite books that showcase stories of struggling and handling mental health issues. We will also be recommending books and resources to help navigate the highs and lows of various mental health disorders.

Dueling Detectives: Phyrne Fisher vs. Lady Victoria Georgina- Tuesday, June 22 at 3 PM
It’s a battle of the historical literary detectives! Librarians from Van Nest and Epiphany will be debate on which historical detective they would hire while giving book recommendations along the way! This event will take place over Google Meet.

Bronx Anti-Prom Presents: Ships that Should Have Sailed – Tuesday, June 22, 2021, 3 PM
Harry and Draco. Korra and Asami. Dean and Castiel. Finn and Poe. Bucky and Steve (and Sam?). Sailor Neptune and Uranus. Kara and Lena. These are all prominent ships from popular media, both in books and on screen.
Join the Melrose and Wakefield Young Adult Librarians as we discuss our favorite Queer OTPs in fandom. We’ll have a battle royale of the best ships of all time and talk about the ships that should have been endgame.
