Angie Thomas has announced on Twitter revealed the title of her upcoming third novel, Concrete Rose, a novel set 17 years before her bestselling hit, The Hate U Give:
After months of waiting (and trolling on my part), I can finally reveal my third novel, CONCRETE ROSE. Set 17 years before THE HATE U GIVE, it follows the story of young Maverick Carterhttps://t.co/bTASuAsZnx

The novel, which will be published by HarperCollins on January 21, 2021, centers on Maverick Carter, Starr’s father. It will track Maverick’s beginnings as he begins fatherhood with Starr’s older brother Seven, when he is only 17 years old. Concrete Rose will focus on what it means to be a young black man-and father-in America. Like her debut novel, Thomas believes that this book will be “banned”.
