One Book, One New York Returns for the Summer

Get ready for the largest book club!

The “One Book, One New York” returns to New York City after a successful inaugural run last year. This  year’s initiative is a collaboration between the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, Vulture and New York Magazine. It aims to promote regular reading habits and have a one book read citywide.

New Yorkers have a chance to vote for their reading choice by visiting www.nyc.gov/onebook during the month of April. The winner will be chosen on May 3. Various events will be held at libraries and bookstores across the city.

Here are the nominees:

Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan

If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin

Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue

White Tears by Hari Kunzru

When I Was Puerto Rican by Esmeralda Santiago

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.
