Books To Help Win Your Reading Challenge

The year is fast approaching and if you are like me, you probably noticed that you have only a couple of weeks to reach your 2017 Reading Challenge Goal (I am 26 books behind of my 100 books reading goal). Whether you are using Goodreads Reading Challenge or a challenge you set for yourself, don’t worry fellow bookworms! Victory is only in arms reach and can be fully achieved. I have a variety of books that will help you achieve your goal. And the best thing? They are short and so good that you will finish them in a day!

The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle (256 pages)

The Grownup by Gillian Flynn (64 pages)

The Dream Woman by Wilkie Collins (144 pages)

The Body in the Library by Agatha Christie (191 pages)

The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett (120 pages)

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson (182 pages)

Penguin Little Black Classics

Penguin Little Black Classics is a great book series! Issued in 2015, they are pocket sized classics of little known works from well-known authors. Not only they are reasonably priced (although you mostly get them in the UK, they range from 80p to £2), they are are so short, which you can finish on your commute. Here are some of my personal favorites:

Lady Susan by Jane Austen (128 pages)

The Beautifull Cassandra by Jane Austen (64 pages)

Lot No. 249 by Arthur Conan Doyle (51 pages)

A Pair of Silk Stockings by Kate Chopin (56 pages)

The Old Nurse’s Story by Elizabeth Gaskell (64 pages)

Graphic Novels

Don’t knock it. Graphic novels are still considered to be books and can count towards your reading challenge goal. Most of them are so short, you can read a book a day, all the way to the finish line. Don’t know which one to start with? Here are some good recommendations:

Sherlock: A Study in Pink by Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, and Jay (Illustrator) (208 pages)

Ms. Marvel Series by G. Willow Wilson

Manga Classics

Pride and Prejudice by Stacy King (377 pages)

Emma by Stacy King (308 pages)

Jane Eyre by Stacy King (319 pages)

Sense and Sensibility by Stacy King (308 pages)

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (112 pages)

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie (264 pages)

The Awakening by Kate Chopin (190 pages)

The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (64 pages)

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.

  1. These are great recommendations! I love many of them. For a quick read I suggest VACATIONLAND by John Hodgman. It’s very funny and a quick read.
