Books of 2019: Favorite Reads So Far (YA Genre)

As I have mentioned in my previous post, I am on a book committee this year that is in the process of selecting the best YA books of the year for teens, a genre I am not a big fan of. However, as I am reading through these books, I am learning more about my reading tastes. It is not the general YA genre I have a distaste for, it is YA books published by US authors. I have realized that I have a preference for YA books published by UK authors, or more generally, foreign authors. They add something different and unique that goes beyond the generic brand and writing style that is usually accompanied with YA books. Longlist for Man Book International Prize 2019 Released

The Man Booker International Prize has just announced the 13 books that have been longlisted for the prestigious prize. The prize gives recognition to literary works that were translated to English and publish in the UK. It is different from its equivalent, the Man Booker Prize, where that award recognizes books originally written in English and published in the UK. The award comes with a cash prize of £50,000 ($71,000) that split equally between the author and the translator.

The winner will be announced on May 21 at a ceremony held at a dinner at the Roundhouse in London.
