National Book Lovers Day

It’s National Book Lovers Day!

It’s our day!

I mean for us book lovers, every day is book lovers day. But it’s nice to have a day set aside just for us.

So while we’re reading our books underneath our favorite tree or snuggled up in bed (with of course a cup of tea), let us take time to read some quotes that show why we all love books so much (not that we need anymore reasons):

“We live for books.” – Umberto Eco

“When the Day of Judgement dawns and people, great and small, come marching in to receive their heavenly rewards, the Almighty will gaze upon the mere bookworms and say to Peter, ‘Look, these need no reward. We have nothing to give them. They have loved reading.’ ” – Virginia Woolf

“Give me a man or woman who has read a thousand books and you give me an interesting companion. Give me a man or woman who has read perhaps three and you give me a very dangerous enemy indeed.” Ann Rice

“Some like to believe it’s the book that chooses the person.” – Carlos Luis Zafron

“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.” – Frederick Douglass

“A book, too, can be a star a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe.” – Madeline L’Engle

“That I can read and be happy while I am reading, is a great blessing.” – Anthony Trollope

“There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.” – Joseph Brodsky

“The world was hers for the reading.” – Betty Smith

“Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book.” – Jane Smiley

I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t love books. There is no other activity that gives me great pleasure and just makes me feel one with the world. Some might say that I’m a nerd or closed off from the world. But I’m not closed off. In fact, I’m a traveler. I have traveled to so many places and universes that only became possible because of my love of reading.

Happy National Book Lovers Day!

Now back to our regular reading schedule program…

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.
