Teen Read Week: October 18-24, 2015

This week is “Teen Read Week”, an annual literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the ALA, to promote literacy among teens  readers. This is my first library event since I became a librarian so I’m really excited about spreading the news of this great event!

This year’s theme is “Get Away @ your library”, encouraging teens across the country to escape the daily grinds from everyday life from just picking up a book and reading about a different world. So hopefully, your nearby libraries are celebrating this great event.

It also encouraged that teens vote for the favorite book of the year, books that were nominated by YALSA. You can visit the website here if you want to take part in the voting process. Here are the nominations:

Don't Look Back (A Novel)Don’t Look Back

Now let’s have a little voting of our own. Which of these teen books you consider to be the best of 2015? Vote for your favorites below.

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.
