The Booker Prize announced the longlisted books for the 2019 Booker Prize. The award was changed from “Man Booker” to “Booker” due to the Man Group withdrawing their sponsorship last year.

This year also marks the first year when one American novelist, Lucy Ellmann, is featured on the list since their inclusion in 2013. The longlist includes big names and also former winners of the prize: Salmon Rushdie and Magaret Atwood, for her highly anticipated sequel to The Handmaid’s TaleThe Testaments. The Testaments does not come out until September, but the judges felt the book was worthy enough to be placed on the longlist. The novel’s contents are a closely guarded secret but they were able to give a slither of a description: “terrifying and exhilarating”.

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.
