The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many literary festivals to be cancelled this year. But this unfortunate circumstance have brought a new opportunity to bring the book community together during this crisis. That is why a lot of convention -old and new-have decided to mover their festivals online. These virtual festivals will have virtual Q&A’s, signed books and giveaways, things that you would expect if you were attending your favorite convention in person! The Bronx may have lost its only bookstore, but that doesn’t mean the Bronx stopped reading.
A Bronx native has made it possible for the Bronx to have its first ever book festival. Sareciea Fennell started a Kickstarter campaign to bring a book festival to the area. This is a great thing since the Bronx became the only borough without a bookstore when the only bookstore in the Bronx, Barnes and Noble, closed its doors in 2016.
