2021 Goodreads Choice Awards Nominees

It’s that time of year again! The voting round of the 2021 Goodreads Choice Awards has begun. This annual event, in its 12th year, is the only major book awards chosen by readers.

This year marks a couple of changes for the annual award. This year there is no write-in option (which I am sad about since I really liked that option). There is now only two rounds of voting instead of three. The opening round ends this evening, November 28 and the final round runs from November 30- December 5. The winners are announced on December 9.

I won’t be listing all the nominees but here are some categories that may be of high interest to some readers. I’ll also mark the ones that will definitely get my vote!

The nominations for the 2022 CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals for writing and illustration have been released. The CILIP Carnegie Medal is awarded to a book written in English for children and young people that “creates an outstanding reading experience through writing”. The CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal honors “a book that creates an outstanding reading experience through illustration”.

This year, 148 books were nominated, 76 books for the Carneige Medal and 72 for the Kate Greenaway Medal. The longlist will be announced on February 16, 2022, the shortlist on March 16, 2022 and the winners on June 16, 2022.

This list is represents the quintessential saying, “so many books, so little time.” All of these books look so good and thankfully, most of them are already on my TBR shelf, so I am on the right track! Here are some of the titles that have the high honor of getting to the nomination stage:

Books to Read From the Emerald Isle

On this St. Patrick’s Day, we may not be able to celebrate with other people or visit the great country, full of heritage and culture.
