Happy Independent Bookstore Day!

Hope all of you manage to venture out to support your favorite local bookstore. I went to the Strand Bookstore in New York City (if any of you visit New York, you need to visit Strand Bookstore, it is a booklover’s dream). I went on a little shopping spree (which is never a bad thing in a bookstore) and found some great finds!

1. What Maisie Knew by Henry James-I haven’t read any other Henry James novel but the plot of this one sounded very interesting so I thought I would give it a try.

2. The Ladies’ Paradise by Emile Zola-Originally written in French and then translated. BBC show, The Paradise was based off from this novel.

3. The Mayor of  Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy- I’m going to take LizzyReads‘s suggestion and give this one a try. The plot did sound interesting so maybe this will be a redemption of Thomas Hardy in my eyes.

4. Sylvia’s Lovers by Elizabeth Gaskell-I read North and South and loved it. So I can’t wait to read more of her work. I also have Wives and Daughters  but maybe I’ll save that to read for next year.

5. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf-I didn’t particularly like Mrs. Dalloway but I heard a lot about this one and like with Thomas Hardy, I though I give her another chance.

6. Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll-I heard a lot about this one. Most people have said it is similar to the style of Gone Girl and it was at a discount. Hopefully I won’t get disappointed like last time.

It looks like I have a lot of great reads! I can’t wait to get started!
