Goldie Vance Vol. 1 by by Hope Larson and Brittney Williams
Look out Nancy Drew! Make way for Goldie Vance! If you were a fan of the amateur sleuth like I was when I was a kid, then this series is definitely for you. Goldie Vance’s tenacity and her empowering quest for the truth is a all-round inspiring and a fun adventure to go on. The artwork is amazing! It is very vibrant and retro, a great way to appeal to the younger generation. Another great comic book series that I will definitely be continuing!

Gotham Academy, Vol. 1: Welcome to Gotham Academy by Becky Cloonan, Brenden Fletcher and illustrations by Karl Kerschl
I never was a big fan of Batman but throw him in a boarding school and some adolescent youth and the superhero might grown on me. This new series gives an inside look into the prestigious Gotham Academy, a boarding school that was attended by Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman. Think Hogwarts meets DC Comics. It appears there is a resurgence of teen detectives and this series is one great example of the returning genre. Olive Silverlock is such an interesting character and the interaction between her and Bruce Wayne/Batman leads to a lot of questions that I definitely need more answers to!
