Welcome to Friday Debate, a feature on cup of tea with that book, please, where every Friday a question will be posted that tantalize the brain and expands our horizons. For this week’s question: 

I listened to a very interesting BBC Documentary podcast, discussing the stereotype of only children being selfish, spoiled and lonely. But it analyzes why more and more people are deciding to just have one child.

I am an only child. When I tell people who I don’t have any siblings, most people assume that I am selfish, my parents spoiled me and I had lonely childhood. Although my childhood had its ups and downs, I didn’t feel entirely lonely and felt very satisfactory with my solitary experience.

However, the only child myths out there are hard to break and difficult to change people’s first impressions. This dilemma leads me to ask these two debate questions:
