Welcome to Friday Debate, a feature on cup of tea with that book, please, where every Friday a question will be posted that tantalize the brain and expands our horizons. For this week’s question:

Black History Month is a U.S. month-long celebration that recognizes the great works African-Americans contributed to the history of the country.

But there have recently been calls to celebrate Black History every day in the classrooms, instead of a just a month-long celebration. I am all for that. I don’t think I learned enough about Black History in school. However, that same ideology cannot only be applied to Black History Month. If you want to teach Black History every day, the same goes for the other nationally recognized months: Women’s History Month, Native American Heritage Month, Pride Month, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, and etc. If you want one history to be included, then all histories have to be included.

So for this week’s Friday Debate, I am asking these two questions:
