James Patterson Wants to Give $1.25 million to School Libraries

Author James Patterson donated a $1 million to 175 independent bookstores a few months ago. Now Patterson is turning his attention towards school libraries.

Patterson is giving away $1.25 million to school libraries which be established as a grant program. Librarians, teachers, administrators, or anyone else can nominate a school library in the US and write a statement, in approximately 200-300 words, what  you would do with the money. This grant program would also be in partnership with Scholastic. The Scholastic Reading Club will match each grant with bonus points go towards books and other classroom materials.

School libraries, like public libraries, have to deal with budget cuts and financial burden so this is a great opportunity for school libraries both have a “well stocked library” and to also enrich young minds.
