Library Workers Need Celebration Everyday

Happy National Library Workers Day!

Although this is a day that celebrates librarians like me, this is another year of bittersweet solace. Librarians are dealing with an intense amount of book banning, abuse and violence that is combined with low pay and the cost of their mental health. I love being a librarian but there are sometimes that I feel so drained to the point where I want to resign. But my passion for books and reading always wins over.

So, when you give congratulations and thank your favorite librarian for all the work they do for their communities, also give them a hug and words of encouragement. And this is something that should not only be done this week but also every day of the year. In the long run, those words and actions can get them through a long day.

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.
