I have been reading many hardcore mystery/thriller novels. Reading contemporary cozy mysteries was just the ticket that needed me to jump into spring reading. Just like with the first book, The Kensington Kidnap, the writing style was still engaging, a delightful and engaging plot and tied with an entertaining mystery. I was afraid that this cozy mystery would miss its mark, which occurs when I read a sequel. However, this one again surprised me. I had a hard time tearing myself away from this quirky and absorbing novel, with its funny and realistic characters.
Pip again brings her A-game when she makes her amateur deductions. You forget that she is an amateur. She seems to have this detective thing on track. Her personable but flawed personality is what makes people gravitate towards her. She is also the type of detective that can hide under the radar. Her inconspicuous nature lets her fly under the radar. Not a lot of detectives have that trait, so that is a plus! Some of the circumstances that she encounters may be a little farfetched but not too much to prevent the reader from not enjoying the book.
Here we are gifted with another fun cozy! When I feel a little gloomy, Pip Bloom is just the medicine that needs to bring the uplifting sunshine in my reading life. These books are a series that is on track of not being a disappointment, so I highly suggest mystery fans give this one a try!
