All of them are free to attend! You don’t need to be a member of the library to attend. All you have to do is register at the corresponding link and the meeting information will be sent to you the day before the event.

Book Discussion: African American Authors
Let’s talk about books! Explore your critical thinking and share it with others! Here’s your opportunity to connect with other avid readers to share what you are currently reading to pass the slow ebb of time. Whether it’s literary fiction, fantasy, true crime, romance, history, a bestseller or whatever, we will be dishing it all.
During the Virtual Open Book Hour we will:
- Discover or Rediscover Book writing by Black Authors.
- Discuss recent Releases
- Discover Upcoming Books
- Recommend titles for others to read.
The Woodson Project: Black and Queer – Tuesday, February 16 at 2 PM
Join NYPL Staff and #TheWoodsonProject in a community literary series to discuss what it means to move in the world as Black and Queer/LGBTQ. Attendees will read article snippets about the Queer, Black experience and have an open dialog. The goal is to leave with a better understanding of the intersectionality of Black and Queer identities and resources for further education.

Positively K-Pop: All About Love- Thursday, February 18 at 3:30 PM
Back by overwhelmingly popular demand! K-Pop isn’t just sweet beats, swooning voices, and sick dance moves. K-Pop is a phenomenon that has brought millions of fans together from across the globe. Join Wakefield’s Young Adult Staff as we discuss and disect our favorite K-Pop love songs and teen love stories from NYPL’s collection. This is a program for ages 13 and up, especially those who love and see the value in K-Pop music.

Black History/Black Futures Book Tasting – Monday, February 22 at 4 PM
Black History Month is a time to celebrate and learn about Black life and experience in America. But looking forward and imagining the future is just as important as honoring the past! In this Black History/Black Futures book tasting the YA Librarians from Hunts Point, Pelham Parkway-Van Nest, and Bronx Library Center will be showcasing some of their favorite reads about Black History, contemporary Black stories, and stories that bend the imagination of what the future will be. This book tasting will cover all genres and formats including eBooks and graphic novels!

TEENS! Join the Wakefield and Eastchester Branches to discuss all your favorite graphic novels. Be prepared to share and discuss what you’re currently reading and debate who the greatest superhero of all time is and why? Join the community, receive recommendations, socialize, and make new friends!
