It’s June already and that means we are halfway through 2018! Before we start basking in the beauty of what is summer, let’s look at how far we made it through our reading challenges!
As you know, I pledged to read at least 70 books this year and even went as far as creating a reading challenge for myself. Here is how far I’ve gotten:

- Colonial/Post-colonial literature
- True crime book
- a book published in the year you were born
- a book from an independent publisher
- a book told through letters
- a book inspired by a true story
- a book on feminism (Mary and The Wrongs of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft)
- a book set in a country you’d like to visit (Silver Bay by Jojo Moyes)
- a book from an author you have never read before (Quicksand by Nella Larsen)
- a book you wanted to read last year
- a history book (The Light of Truth by Ida B. Wells-Barnett) Currently reading
- a book published in 2018 (All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin)
- a book you were always too scared to read
- a narrative nonfiction (Quiet: The Power of the Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain)
- a book published in the last 3 years and you’ve never read that author before
- a ghost story
- a mystery from an author you’ve never read before (Abigale Hall by Lauren A. Forry) Currently reading
- a book that made the bestseller lists recently (e.g. The New York Times)
- a book that was recently put on your TBR list (let’s say the first 20)
- a book that was recommended to you by a friend
- a trilogy or series (March Series)
- a book that is part of “book hype” (The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen)
- a young adult novel
- a literary fiction
- a short story
- an alternate history/dystopia novel
- First person narrative
- a book recently or is going to be turned into a movie (We Always Lived in a Castle by Shirley Jackson)
- a self-published book
- a book set in your hometown/region
- a book by a male author
- a book by a female author (Ordeal by Innocence by Agatha Christie)
- a nonfiction book about a topic you are passionate about (Camp Austen: My Life as an Accidental Superfan)
- a book with a name in the title (Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier)
- a book you read when you were a kid (A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle)
- read an e-book
- Any book from the 2017 Goodreads Choice Awards
