Poem: Disquiet

Walls closing in

Waters rushing down

The air, once free and uplifting

Clamps on my soul

Strength leaves me

Weakness overcomes

The world becomes nothing

Hearts and drums

This is the music ringing my ear

Skin needs to come off

Nails clawing

Pressure mounts high

A voice, usually singing praise

Now a crushed windpipe

Stifling the spirit

I have to get out

I need to escape

Help Me

All thoughts running, racing

What is left in my mind

The quiet is my blanket

Cocooned into safety

Easiness overcomes me

Peace overwhelms

My soul is one with the Earth

New life runs through my veins

Until the cycle starts again

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.
