Harry Potter Book Night Finally Coming to the US

Were you always jealous of the great Harry Potter events that occurred across the pond? Now here is your chance to take part in the festivities! This February, Books-A-Million will be hosting the first ever Harry Potter Book Night in the US. The event, which will occur throughout all of Books-A-Million store locations, takes place on February 3, from 2-6pm. Harry Potter Book Night is an annual UK observance, where the Harry Potter publisher, Bloomsbury, offers kits to classrooms, bookstores and libraries on February 1. But that doesn’t mean US events will be taking place on February 1. Check out Bloomsbury’s Interactive Map to find a celebratory location near you. Just make sure you convert the time. The times listed are in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). This year gives is especially important for Potterheads to celebrate since 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of the US publication of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Books-A-Million will continue to celebrate Harry Potter throughout the year, which they make a note in their press release:

Harry Potter Book Night is one of three Potter-themed events to be hosted by Books-A-Million this year. The other events in this series are 20 Years of Magic, set to take place on Saturday, July 28, and Christmas in the Wizarding World, on Saturday, November 10. Harry Potter Book Night attendees will receive a Magical Passport that will carry them through all three events. Guests are encouraged to save their passports after each event, as prizes will be awarded to those with completed passports.

Harry Potter Book Night is FREE and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to share their spellbinding experiences on social media using the hashtags #BAMYearOfMagic and #HarryPotterBookNight. For more information, visit booksamillion.com/harrypotter.
