If you are looking for an exact adaptation of the is beloved, then this is not the right book. But don’t let that deter you. This is another delightful edition in the Manga Classics series. It might be a tad dramatic but that doesn’t stop it from being a great story. The text was appropriate, especially if it’s targeting a younger audience. It felt more like teenagers were talking to one another which oddly enough made it more enjoyable . The art was fantastic as usual. I really loved how during the intense and important moments of the story, the weather reflected that such as raining during Darcy’s second proposal. So although this version does takes this classic in a new direction, don’t fret Austen lovers. It still brings all the charm and wit the original emits. Another successful adaptation!

It was okay but the Sense and Sensibility of Marvel classics was done much better. They tried to concise it with fewer words but while doing that, they ten to leave out important There were a lot of gaps and holes that needed to be mended. For example, what Elizabeth said about Mr. Darcy and Anne de Bourgh upon first seeing Anne, there was no mention of their engagement and no evidence Elizabeth was told of it so how did she know about it? It assumed that people already knew the story instead of being introduced to it for the very first time and I feel when you do pictorial adaptation like this, you have to assume that people don’t know the story. However, the artwork was beautiful, better than the Sense and Sensibility comic by the same author and publisher.

The artwork was weird, a lot different from the previous ones Nancy Butler has done. I don’t think it did a good job portraying the story well. It  told the story very well, however, it used a lot of words in the speech bubbles. It is not a problem for me but if I want to introduce this story to someone, especially a younger person, they might find it a turn off. However, it was an interesting read and a great throwback for the Austen fans.

A big improvement compared to the Emma graphic novel. The art is so much and did a good job adapting the original. It was just as humorous as the original! But, since this is most likely for a younger set, the novel could decrease some of the text in the speech bubbles.

Overall rating: 3 out of 5 stars

So far, classic novels in Manga format tell the story so much better compared to graphic novels. They take both the time to pay attention to the details and create an interesting version of the story.

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.
