I love reading Agatha Christie’s novels. For someone who loves reading mystery books, I can’t believe it took this long for me to discover Christie’s great works. This is 5th book by her that I read this year and I have yet to be disappointed.

The Body In the Library  is another one of those “cozy” British mysteries. Her writing keeps you intrigued, her story keeps you guessing, and the twists you shock you and you never see coming.  You get the small-village feel of the story, especially with the chapter when the entire village is gossiping about the murder. A great chapter on how news in a small village can gain so much momentum. Christie’s wit and humor in this chapter shows just how well she was able to capture the village’s personality.

I love Miss Marple. With other detective stories, authors give us a glimpse of what their characters are feeling. However, Christie does not do that and I am definitely not complaining. Miss Marple constantly throws the readers curve balls and the twist and turns keeps you on the edge of your street. Half the time, Miss Marple already knows who the killer is half way through the story. You are both trying to figure out what Miss Marple is thinking and finding out who the culprit is t the same time. It is very exciting. Yes, she is a busybody. But name me one great detective that isn’t.

Like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Christie shows that you don’t to write bloody and gory scenes to write a good mystery. Christie offers you excitement and adventure without the details overtaking the story. The Body in the Library is a another mystery that will be added on my shelf of great mysteries and I will definitely read another one by her.

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.

    1. I am trying to read through the Miss Marple series right now. The Murder in the Vicarage is the 1st one in the Miss Marple series and is equally as good so you can start there! Also good, Murder on the Orient Express. The Hercule Poirot character is the detective of that story and one of her most popular ones but it is good mystery if you are starting on Agatha Christie.
