“Would You Rather…” Book Tag

Thank you Bella of The Amazing Life of a Bookworm for tagging me!

*Would you rather only read trilogies or only read standalones?*

I think that is based on what genre it is. If its supernatural/fantasy, then I would prefer to read trilogies. I think more could be expanded more if the storytelling is just right. It it’s science fiction, then I would prefer it to be standalone. The story tends to be continuously beaten down and gets old real fast if it’s in a series. So importantly I think it’s really based on the storyline if it warrants for a trilogy.

*Would you rather only read male or female authors?*

I really don’t go out and seek male or female authors. Yes, a lot of the books that I read are by female authors but that is not because I deliberately picked them. I choose books based on my interest in the plot, not the gender. If the author happens to be female, so be it.

*Would you rather shop at Barnes and Noble or Amazon?*

I used to work in Barnes & Noble and because of my unpleasant work experience, I avoid shopping there like the plague (This is just me. I’m totally bias. Please continue to shop there if you feel comfortable). Honestly, I shop at an independent bookstore first in NYC, Strand Bookstore, before I go anywhere else. But if I can’t find the book or it’s cheaper, I’ll shop on Amazon.

Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?

Let me just say this first: the books are always better. But if it I must choose I would have to say I prefer TV adaptations better than movies.  With TV shows, they have time, an entire season in some cases, to develop the storyline. Unlike with movies, you only have a window of at least 2 hours and the story can be rushed and vital things can be left out just so you can make that time frame. TV adaptations can get it wrong too (check out my post discussing that), it’s just I am more likely to enjoy a TV adaptation than a movie one.

5 books per week, most definitely! I don’t think it is even possible for me to read only 5 pages in a day. All I do is read!

cropped-letter-writing4.jpg*Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?*

As much as I like reviewing books, I would rather be a professional author. Becoming a published author is one of my dreams and writing full time…there is just no greater feeling.

*Would you rather be a librarian or a bookseller?*

I have worked in a bookstore and I currently work in a library so I’ll have to say librarian hands down. Although being a bookseller would be very interesting, you have to deal with the business side of things and that is not really me. I just like helping people and you get to do that when you’re a librarian. Also being surrounded by books all the time is an extra perk.

*Would you rather only read your favorite genre, or every other genre but your favorite?*

That’s a difficult one. I’m willing to read other genres but there is a reason why it is your favorite: nothing else can compare. So sadly, I would rather stick with something I know. It would be better if I was enjoying my favorite pastime instead of just muddling through.

*Would you rather only read ebooks or physical books?*

I do see the usefulness and ease of having ebooks and it would be so much easier on my bookshelves. But nothing can compare than having a physical book in your hands, thumbing through actual pages, the scent of a book…nothing can beat that.

I was born and raised in New York. I still live in New York but kind of sick of the city and one day I wish to move to the UK.I have a Masters degree in Library Science and I currently work in a special collections library. I loved books ever since I was a little girl. Through the hard times in my life, my love for books has always gotten me through. Just entering another world different from my own intrigues me. As long as I am entering in another universe, I like to create my own as well. I love to write and hopefully I will be able to complete a novel.
