Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the blog, The Broke and the Bookish. Today’s topic:
Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read.”
Now when it says probably, its indicating that sometime in the future I’ll read them. There are books that I hope I will read but then there are some that they literally have to be the last books on the planet in order for me to pick them up. These are those books:
- Fifty Shades of Grey Series – I sometimes like to read romance but this? I don’t know if you would even call it romance. It just doesn’t appeal to me.
- Twilight Series – I think my main problem with this is not only the quality and the content but the way Bella portrayed. I don’t like weak, needy heroines.
- Les Miserables by Victor Hugo – I saw the Broadway show but I don’t think I see myself ever picking this up.
- Moby Dick by Herman Melville – I read In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick which is about the loss of the Whaleship Essex, the inspiration behind Moby Dick. If Moby Dick was anything like In the Heart of the Sea, I pass.
- War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy – One day I would like to read a very long book, but I don’t think this would be the right one for me.
- ANYTHING by Mark Twain – I read the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn …I’m not putting myself through that torture again.
- Anything by Stephen King – I watched the movies adapted from his books and except for Carrie, I didn’t find them appealing. I know that books and film adaptations are completely different (believe me I know) I feel wouldn’t be a fan.
- The Lord of the Rings Series – I read an excerpt from The Hobbit in grammar school. I had to force myself to keep my eyes open. I like fantasy but I think this one is too busy for me.
- The Game of Thrones Book Series – I don’t like having to follow so many characters. People have tried to explain it to me but I find this series daunting.
- Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand – It does sound interesting but maybe it is the length that is scaring me away.
What would be on your list? Should I least try to give some of these a try? Let me know in the comments below and provide your link to your TTT post. I would love to see what is on your list!

agree on fifty shades of grey! but not on GOT haha Im one of those who go crazy over the books and the shows
here’s my list: https://abookishowl.wordpress.com/2015/05/05/top-ten-books-ill-probably-never-read/
Ha, ha. I just saw War and Peace and Les Miserables on Stefani’s list. I never managed to finish War and Peace and barely made it through Les Miserables.
I dearly loved Atlas Shrugged when I first read it in the 60s. I’ve reread it a couple of times since then. It’s slow going the first 150-200 pages. I don’t know why it takes me so long to get into it, but then the pages just fly by for me.
It was difficult narrowing it down to ten books but Atlas and Les Miserables would also be on my list.
War and Peace is on my reading list for a few years now. I would also like to read Moby Dick because I vaguely remember much from the pocket version I read as a child. I also have Hugo’s book and Twain on my reading list.
Totally get 50 Shades and Twilight. GoT is my favorite though! It’s a lot of characters though so I get why you don’t want to. And I totally get LOTR too because it can be tedious at time.
